The equation u use is invalid because half the time u play in an outpost which means u cant die (other than wintersday) so u have to find a way to calculate time outside outposts and deaths

There are some built-in problems when you try to measure experience per death or experience per minute. Characters started before Factions probably made a large portion of their elite skill captures before the 5000 xp per capture bonus. On its own, this would make stats for older characters look worse.

I love dealing with statistics. Wish I had paid more attention as I went along to this kind of info.

I do know that I am dieing less frequently with all my characters. When I started with my monk and her 'limited' skill bar and my limited knowledge, I died alot. As I got smarter in my play style and skill usage, my death to minutes played (PvE) ratio is way down. Same is true with my warrior and elementalist.

Keep your current figures and compare them again on the same character in another 500 to 1000 hours. I believe that that will tell you more than comparing classes. With each new class tried, you have more "game smarts" than with the previous characters.

With the introduction of the 'Survivor Title', more people will be a little less careless with deaths. "Deaths with no penalties" becoming "rewards for not dieing" will change the way some people play the game. You can see that in posts here in guru. Posts like "Weekend of rewards to remove those stupid deaths" (not exact quote) is an example.

As I said above, continue to play as you do, then recheck your ratio.

Well, about Survivor title, I have it with an elementalist, but now I play a lot RA with that same elementalist, so ... from 0 deaths per week, to 1 death every minute; Very ambiguous statistic.

Alrighty, well I made a Mesmer as my first character and he is still my main character till today. I've done very little PvP (just a tiny bit of RA) and don't idle often, and when I do, not for long periods of time.

Deaths: 1,531

433 hours 15 minutes over the past 5 months

Minutes per death: 17

its too early in the am for math but here are the numbers....

chapter one characters
e/mo 780 hours 1953 deaths ......................24
n/me 447 hours 40 minutes 816 deaths.........33
me/r 486 1/2 hours 881 deaths....................33
mo/n 691 hours 1118 deaths.......................37

chapter 2 characters
rit/e--rit/p now 336 1/2 hours 404 deaths......50
mo/me 128 hours 108 deaths.......................71
me/rit 72 1/2 hours 54 deaths......................80

and chapter 3
p/me 37 hours 2 deaths (was trying for survivor, but not going out of my way to not die---not mission leaving or jumping out of quest when close to death, was just not dying until I got to 129,000 xp....then I died--twice )...1110.

I never pvp. its all pve.
from the looks of it my oldest character died the most often, which fits since she was the first one I played and I didnt know the systems and such....my necro, mesmer and monk all came on the scene about the same time---and seems they are all about the same.....my last set of characters have gotten better about dying left and right so their numbers are much better....and my paragon well......

My stats:
Unien Aule, E/?, 65707 minutes, 1588 deaths, 41.37 min/death
Unien Frostwind, N/Me 14419 minutes, 136 deaths, 106.02 min/death
Icelord Ulmo, R/W 34136 minutes, 568 deaths, 60.10 min/death
Unien Ebonwhirl, D/Mo 1516 minutes, 22 deaths, 68.91 min/death
Unien Ebonstrike, A/Mo(no confirm button ftl) 398 min, 5 deaths, 79.6 min/death

The top three are the only ones that "really count," and I am slightly amazed that my necro survives for way, way longer than the rest. I created the top three in prophecies when it was the only campaign and i played about 10 hours per day. There was no survivor title so ofc I didn't go for it. I have no explanation, other than that curses necros rule the earth.

No specific order...

Ranger - 127 h 8 min, 184 deaths = 1 death every 41 minutes (Approx.)

Necro (Mostly played as MM) - 191h 6 min, 497 deaths = 1 death every 23 minutes =(

Assassin - 182 h 14 min, 840 deaths = 1 death every 13 minutes

Elementalist - 85 h 2 min, 256 deaths = 1 death every 19 minutes

My sin was my very first character followed by my necro, then ranger and then ele for PvE.

even with the additional guidelines, any info coming from this is highly questionable.

Farmers for example will have a very low deathratio.
First / second character: the first character you ever created will likely have a higher deathratio then your first
time played: relatively short periods played make bad ratio's.
player style: play save or play aggressively to finish mission asap?

I forget the precise statistics.... but my Assassin dies on average 3 times an hour. Thats not to say it happens that often in reality, but he'll have sudden spates of recurrent deaths... typically as a result of death penalty and attempting to map certain areas.

I have 4 characters that I've actually played for a little while, and the numbers really show my playstyle with them.

E/X Mathias Deathwater, my first character: 319h. 8min. played, 687 deaths, 27.87 min/death

Rt/Me Windmaster Manwe: 172h. 56min. played, 585 deaths, 17.74 min/death

P/W Walker Airkin: 73h. played, 138 deaths, 31.73 min/death

Mo/Me Carlina Silverstone: 99H. 27min. played, 154 deaths, 38.74 min/deaths

I usually tend to play fairly defensively, except times when I decide to do something stupid (like try a Mist Form running build on Mathias) that racks up my deaths count. Paragons just kinda stay alive, and my monk has never really seen the frontlines and I've never really done anything stupid with her. My ritualist is the exception, because I spent a really long time trying out builds that usually failed, and factions is harder than the other 2 chapters. I haven't done much in the way of farming with any of them, so I haven't really played for very long times with any of them with no deaths.

My Necromancer/Varies has 627 Hours, 19 Minutes with 513 deaths.

I usually play MM with Dark Pact always on so I am guessing that is why I have a pretty good ratio. When not MM I sit in the back and echo SS.

My only PvE character, a Warrior, has 118 minutes per death. She was made 18/19 months ago. I'll update this post with the hours and months later.

I did this for fun, but several things will skew the results, including going AFK for Charmed/Hapless titles, solo farming and Survivor bids.

Paragon: 25h 14m / 5 deaths = 1 death every 290.8 min
Ele: 172h 36m / 463 = 22.37
Warr: 340h 41m / 792 = 25.81
Rit: 109h 24m / 374 = 17.55
Ass: 14h 55m / 0 = 0 (current survivor project)
Monk: 381h 56m / 882 = 25.98
Mes: 60h 12m / 3 = 1,204 (L1 survivor)
Necro: 170h 46m / 366 = 27.99
Ranger 222h 54m / 190 = 70.39 (L2 survivor)

Mesmer:12.15 mins/death
Ele: 18.18 minsdeath
Monk: 49.43 mins/death
Assassin: 81.82 mins/death
Ritualist: 26.21 mins/death
Necro: 30.84 mins/death
Dervish: 29.52 mins/death
Ranger: 106.36 mins/death
Warrior: 58.56 mins/death

Monk has been played for ~1080 hours with 1,311 deaths. Others are less. In comparison, this iteration of my ranger has been played for ~39 hours with 22 deaths.

For my mesmer, she PvPs a lot which is why she dies relatively more than the others. My warrior solos a lot, which is why she dies a lot less.

The results will be confounded by factors such as Lutgardis faction farming, people going after survivors, death leveling, proficiency of teams you play with, etc.
